Our Zanzibar cinnamon is EU certified organic and can be used to elevate both sweet and savoury dishes. 

100% dried cinnamon bark, produced using artisanal methods. Typically, older branches incur a stronger deeper flavour whilst young branches are more sweet and citrusy. Our cinnamon is cut by hand from the younger branches of the cinnamon tree, the outer layer of bark is stipped and we keep the inner layer which contains the uniquely complex cinnamon flavour. Multiple young branches are harvested rather than killing the tree like in more commercial practises. 

Cinnamon Verum is a versatile spice which can be added to transform tomato sauces, stews and chilli & BBQ rubs. It also blissfully compliments sweet dishes like pastries and pancakes. Perfect to infuse in tea and to garnish cocktails, creating a warm and comforting festive feeling.

Did you know, most store-brand cinnamon is far away from the real stuff? Importers use a cheap substitute in Indonesia – a variety called Korintje. It’s a botanical cousin to Saigon cinnamon, but it’s much more bitter and doesn’t have the same depth of flavor. Cinnamomum verum, however, is a ‘true’ cinnamon, native to Sri Lanka. It comes from the cinnamon tree or Ceylon cinnamon tree, which are small evergreen trees belonging to the plant family Lauraceae.
